1987 It's Hard to Tell the Singer from the Song Rounder
Hi!
ReplyDeleteFirst, thanx so much for all of this.
It's amazing to hear so much great music
when being from overseas, for years I thought
the 3-4 bluegrass albums I've managed to find were about all there was.
There's one album I'd love to hear: Porter Wagoner's "Y'all Come". I only have this one song on a "best of" collection and it's great.
Thanx so much!
I'd like to request 2 Earl Scruggs Revue albums on Sony/Columbia: "Bold and New" and "Today and Forever" Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is amazing! It makes my day any time there is a new post on here. As an avid mandolin player in a bluegrass band and an obsessive vinyl collector I thought I had heard nearly everything, man did you prove me wrong! Thank you thank you thank you!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite bluegrass singers are Larry Sparks and Red Allen, if there is anything more out there by either of them I would love it! But really anything I haven't heard makes me happy.
On another note I have recorded a fair number of my LPs and I do have some that are not posted here, would you be interested? Let me know and I can send you a list.
Again: thank you thanks you thank you!
do you belong to Rounder's website send him a email to him and he give you my email address so you can get in touch with me?
ReplyDeleteThanks
I would love an invite to Rounder's website. I found out about it shortly before it became private and don't know how to get in touch with him. Any ideas?
ReplyDeletedo you know Steve T?
ReplyDeletecould you please tell me how i can get in touch with you?
ReplyDeleteWould like to hear this, if you got. Thanks

ReplyDeleteto dch: I have an MGM release of Red Allen and the Osborne Brothers called Country Pickin' and Hillside Singing, same one?
Anything by Ola Belle Reed would be loverly.
ReplyDeleteI am sitting here stunned at your posting of Ola Belle's 1972 Rounder record. As a ravenous appreciator of the offerings here and many other sites, I am happy to sit back and see what surprises pop up—thankful for the thoughtful and personal selections provided on the offerers' terms. in fact, it is a sublime pleasure to leave the aesthetic decisions to you passionate providers. So, to receive such immediate response to the solicited request seems almost too good to be true. A Christmas Eve thrill for which I am incredibly grateful. (And if you were already planning on posting Ola Belle Reed, don't pop my bubble!) It was very kind of you to do so.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful blog. I can't thank you enough. If you have the Charlie Moore album with Don Reno playing guitar, that would be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeletePlease keep in mind the first requirement "Out Of Print" I check these by going to Amazon.com
ReplyDeletecountysales.com or just google.com, you'll fine them for sale. If it's a band, search their web page and see if they have it available.
I'd like to request a bluegrass album by Doug Jernigan Roadside Rag on Flying Fish records
ReplyDeleteI'd like to request any of the following:
ReplyDeleteLarry Sparks & The Lonesome Ramblers - You Could Have Called - King Bluegrass
Little Roy Lewis - Gospel Banjo - Canaan Records
Sam Bush & Alan Munde - Together Again for the First Time - Ridge Runner
Country Gazette - Out to Lunch - Flying Fish
Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys - A Voice From On High - MCA
Thanks
I found two very interesting albums of an unusual bluegrass band Bluegrass Generation, although the record quality of their first one Seven Bridges Road isn't good and it's very sad, i really like both of them. There's not many mentions about this band in the internet...what a "surprise"! But i found here --> http://www.ibiblio.org/hillwilliam/BGdiscography/?keyword=bluegrass+generation&search=Search&stype=keyword&v=sresults that they have at least one more thing "Workin' our way" (same Atteiram label),though it's not a LP, and for the second there is "Carolina in the pines" by some Bluegrass Generation, so i'm curious about is it the same band if you know?
ReplyDeleteI really like City Limits Bluegrass Band too, so if you have something similar to Bluegrass Generation and City Limits Bluegrass Band please post it in future.
The next thing i like is Bluegrass Fever's After Dark, they say there's one more s/t release --> http://www.ibiblio.org/hillwilliam/BGdiscography/?v=fullrecord&albumid=19445
Ant the last one for now:
J.D. Crowe & The Kentucky Mountain Boys "Rambler Boy" (1971)
i'd also really like to hear Good Ol' Persons albums
ReplyDelete"California Old-Time Bluegrass Music" 1977
"Anywhere The Wind Blows" 1989
